Online psychologist in the Netherlands. Hello! My name is Katerina Halkina and I am a practicing psychologist who lives in the Netherlands. I know what it is like to move to another country, leave behind your usual life and face a completely new world. It is an interesting, but often difficult path. And I want to help you go through it easier by providing psychological support online. Why do I think it is important to work in your native language? When I moved to the Netherlands, I realized that no matter how well we know another language, there are things that are easier and more accurate to express only in our native language. Language is not just words, it is our cultural code, our childhood memories, our emotions. And in therapy, this plays a huge role. We will be able to speak openly and honestly, without thinking about words, because this is our common language in which we can talk about the most important things. How can online sessions become support? Living in another country, even as open and comfortable as the Netherlands, can bring its own challenges. Sometimes you may feel like you are alone with your experiences, and that is normal. Online support allows you to seek help even if you cannot visit a psychologist in person. What can we talk about? Maybe you feel lonely or have difficulty adapting to a new culture. Perhaps the stress of moving is draining your energy and you want to find inner balance. 90% of couples experience a deterioration in their relationship after moving to another country, with misunderstandings and mutual complaints becoming more acute. I am here to help you sort out these feelings. Here are some topics that often come up in our conversations: • Feeling isolated and alone; • Conflicts with your partner; • Difficulty adjusting and culture shock; • Strain in relationships due to cultural differences; • Burnout from trying to cope with new realities; • Anxiety and worry about the unknown. I have been through this myself and I know how important it is in such moments to be able to talk to someone who understands not only you, but also this whole experience of moving and adapting. How will we work? We will communicate online, which is very convenient, especially in conditions when there is no time and energy for travel. During the first session, we will just talk. You will tell us what is bothering you, and together we will think about how I can help. This will be our joint work aimed at making you feel more confident and calm. If you feel that you are ready to take the first step, I am here to walk this path with you. Write, and we will start with the first online consultation. I will be happy to help you find support in yourself, no matter where you are.
